ever since last friday, reiken's been talking a lot more lately. not exactly sure why, but here's just a few things he's had on his mind...

summer break is almost over...

last friday was chi tram's last official day babysittin reiken. we are all quite sad that the summer went by so fast and that she'll no longer be around to keep 'bubba' (and us) entertained anymore ... but excited for her as she gets ready for her move to austin this week... haha, she can't get rid of us that easily tho...we'll definitely be down to visit - go longhorns!!

and then today we had carrots for the first time... looks like a favorite cause he finished the whole thing!















so milk, yogurt, peas, carrots... ah, yes, its not a 10K calorie diet like some folks have... but he needs his energy for bigger and better things... yup, ninjai by night and SUPERBABY by day!

in loving memory of Nguyen Van Dong (February 12, 1952 - August 8, 2008)

mommy's uncle, Nguyen Van Dong, or Chu Son as mommy called him, passed away last friday in houston of gastrointestinal cancer. fortunately, the family was able to visit him last week and reiken got to meet his great-uncle for the first time. he was a wonderful man with a huge heart; much loved and will be missed dearly.

last week, reiken went for his 6-month pedi appt - no, not the fun ones that mommy goes in for at the nail salons either. nope - it was a doctors visit and this time, he actually knew what was going on. once we got into the room and set him down, he looked around at first and then you could actually see the fear overcome his little face as it started to fade to red... verdict: deathly afraid of laying down on that hideous, loud, crinkly paper on the doctor's tables! how could you blame him? he got a whopping 4 more shots and this time the tears starting flowing WAYYYY before the needles even appeared... he even had a stare-down with the doctor (using esp to convince her to skip the shots, but that obviously didn't work). the aftershock was crazy too as he would scream bloody murder everytime he was on his traveling changing pad! good thing he finally started to forget by the end of the weekend!

anyhoo - our pookie's new stats (as of 8/1/08):
head size 18.3 (90th %)
weight 19.11 lbs (95th %)
and now 25.5", yup thats now 2 feet and 1.5" more of our little mcrib!

today is reiken's official 6 month birthday! to celebrate, we had cheesecake and crazy candles! and then tomorrow, its off to the pediatrician and more shots - boo =(...oh well, at least we can enjoy the rest of today! =)

in honor of shark week!

ok, normally mommy tries not to post bout such trivial things but oh well... last week mommy went shopping and got these little pj's for reiken. well, last night daddy called mommy to watch the discovery channel cause it was showing about sharks and attacks and one happened to be in fiji, etc... well, as mommy was watching, they started talkin bout tiger sharks... haha, whatdayaknow...
